Bookbinding with Beth Thomas

Bookbinding with Beth Thomas

Have you ever wanted to learn the art of bookbinding? Here's your chance!

Learn about the history of bookbinding, styles of bindings, and the tools used for hand bookbinding. Working creatively as a group, we will explore personal expression while creating a sense of community. Over this series of four classes, you can expect to complete a Coptic Binding- a hard bound book with decorative covers, eight signatures, and external sewing. No bookbinding experience necessary; materials will be supplied.

About our instructor: Beth Thomas has lived in SLV since 1979 and has practiced bookbinding for close to 40 years. Formerly the SLV Middle School librarian, she now works in book restoration, hand bookbinding projects and teaches at her studio, Danskbog Bindery, in Ben Lomond.

Important: each week we will learn skills that will lead up to the final project. Attendance for each program date is necessary. Registration required.
