Homeless Garden Project: Day of Digging & Dirt!

Homeless Garden Project: Day of Digging & Dirt!

Join the library for this day of service to support the work of the Homeless Garden Project.  We'll begin the day with farm work, then get a cooking demonstration and free lunch - then end with a panel discussion on affordable housing and an opportunity to visit with community organizations.

Panelists include Dr. Robert Ratner, Manager of the Santa Cruz County’s Housing for Health Division, Rayne Perez of the Housing Authority of Santa Cruz County; and Jessica de Wit, City of Santa Cruz Housing Department Manager. The panel will be moderated by former mayor Don Lane, who is the chairperson of Housing Santa Cruz County.

To participate, please arrive at the Homeless Garden Project Farm at 9:30am on Saturday, August 6th.  Since this is an outdoor event and we'll be doing a bit of work, we suggest you wear comfortable work clothes, sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable shoes, and bring water.

The farm is located at:

Shaffer Road at Delaware Ave.
Santa Cruz, CA 95060
Located near Long Marine Lab and Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz.
The cross street is Delaware Ave.
