Amah-Ka-Tura: First Nation Performance
Patrick Orozco began sharing the knowledge of his people with children eighteen years ago. In his presentations, he describes the land as it used to be and describes the history of Indigenous contact with the Europeans from a Native American perspective. Wearing traditional dress and playing instruments he has made himself based on authentic descriptions and using traditional materials, Patrick brings Ohlone myths and legends alive through sharing his culture’s traditions and songs. He encourages children to participate in the singing and dancing with his group and conveys to them Ohlone attitudes of respect and love for the natural world.
