Bridging The Gap BetweenTraditional Genealogy and Genetic Genealogy

Guest Speaker: Megan Thompson

What is genetic genealogy and what can it do for you? Megan will explain basic concepts of genetic genealogy and the basic scientific facts of DNA matches, and tell us why it is so helpful with brick walls, as well as being a tool to verify questionable findings. She will explain how to get started using matches to grow your tree, explain how to find matches, what the percentages mean, and the process of using your matches’ trees as well as shared connections to find a common ancestor. She will also present information about a few websites and programs that will help you dig deeper and extract even more clues from your DNA matches.
