Introduction to Mindfulness: Letting Be with Kind Awareness
This 6-week series of classes introduces you to mindfulness meditation practices. Because the class curriculum builds on itself, please begin the course no later than week 3 (Monday, March 11). Registration has now closed. The class is full.
Grounded in ancient wisdom traditions and adapted for modern life, mindfulness practice can help us lower psychological and physical stress, communicate more effectively, improve focus, and increase self-awareness and compassion.
Topics to be covered include Putting a Pause in Autopilot, Being Right Where You Are, The Storytelling Mind, and Re-wiring the Brain for Joy and Happiness. Practices taught include mindfulness of body, breath, thoughts, and feelings, as well as meditation practices that cultivate compassion for self and others. Each class will begin with a gentle mindful movement practice, such as Chi Gong (Qi Gong).
This is an experiential class and the skills developed come directly out of the class practice as well as a home practice. Small and large group discussion (bringing the quality of kind awareness to listening and talking) help us come to a more clear understanding of the practice.
Classes are taught by Ann Bolger Peruzzi, PhD.
