Chinese Calligraphy for the Lunar New Year

Celebrate the Lunar New Year by learning Chinese calligraphy and brush painting. Karen Tseng leads this two-hour workshop with all materials provided. Participants will learn to write a few easy words for good luck and blessings, and paint a snake for Chinese New Year of the Snake.

Karen Tseng is originally from Hong Kong, she currently resides in California. Her early works in abstract expressionism were exhibited in galleries and won the Urban Council Fine Arts Award in the Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition. After 2008, Karen devoted herself to the learning of brush painting, calligraphy and seal-carving, and studies under the guidance Kan Kwok-fan, Hou Beiren, Lui Tai, Zhang Meiju and Zhang Ruizhi. She is currently serving as the president of the American Society for the Advancement of Chinese Art, vice-president of Silicon Valley Seal Carving Club, secretary of Lingnan Art Association of North America, and she is a member of the Renaissance Chinese Calligraphy Club and the Chinese Arts Association of San Francisco.
