Music of the West African Kora with Sean Gaskell

Music of the West African Kora with Sean Gaskell

Please join us for a musical performance featuring Sean Gaskell and the West African Kora harp. The kora is a 21 stringed West African harp that is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots. Many of these songs preserve a history dating back 800 years to the founding of the Mande empire.

Sean Gaskell studied under the extensive instruction of Moriba Kuyateh and the late Malamini Jobarteh in Gambia, and both Youssoupha Cissokho and Mamadou Cissokho in Senegal and has presented at libraries, k-12 schools, colleges, universities and assisted living facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
