Tenant Laws for Support and Service Animals

Tenants looking to rent with animal companions often encounter hesitant landlords.   SCPL is pleased to partner with Santa Cruz Tenant Sanctuary to provide this free public talk on the rights of tenants sharing their housing with animal companions.  While landlords currently have legal discretion to allow tenants to keep pets at rental properties, 'assistance animals' -- including both emotional support and service animals -- are variously  protected under state and federal Fair Housing Act laws.
